8 New Pi Kapps!

We have 8 new members! They are:

Aaron Friedman
Aaron Signer
Alex Keating
Andrew Stewart
Brian Kroeter
Dan Bressler
Jeff Votava
Joe Gauert

The chapter is extremely excited to welcome these guys into our fraternity. They will be part of the Beta Gamma pledge class. We are also hoping that the pledge class will continue to grow over the next two weeks. All of the actives put in a lot of effort and we are now reaping the rewards of our hard work. We feel like we have a group of future leaders.

Overall, recruitment went very well campus wide. 183 guys chose fraternities at the bid ceremony. We held our own compared to the other houses and beat many much larger ones.

Thank you again to all the alumni who came to help recruit. Without your help we would not have been this successful. We are going to continue to work hard and build our numbers throughout the whole school year. Here are some pics from the very successful weekend!

Rush Update!

Round 1 of rush went very well. We got 30 guys back for 2nd round which is a big increase over last years' 18-20. We have 4 or 5 other perspectives who did not go through rush also that we think we have a really good chance at getting to join. 211 guys went through the rush process total and picked houses for 2nd round which is an increase from 172 last year and everyone has agreed that this year's group was full of much higher quality guys. The whole house did a great job and we are going to hang out with as many of the guys as possible this week. Everyone is excited for next weekend. The schedule is:
Saturday Sept 15th Round 2 - 12:00-4:25 PM
Sunday Sept 16th Round 3 - 12:00-2:50 PM and Bid Ceremony 8:00 PM

Thanks to all the alumni who came down this weekend to help out (7
total I think). We appreciate all your support.

Recruitment is almost here!

Formal Fraternity Recruitment is only two days away. The Pi Kapps are working hard and we are doing very well at getting to know prospective members before formal rush has even began. With the new IFC recruitment rule changes made last semester, communication (including phone and online) with freshmen is now allowed. We are also now able to go off campus with prospectives as long as we do not pay and alcohol is not involved(no bars).

The Pi Kapps have been taking full advantage of these new changes and we have a very long perspective list. We have been hanging out with prospectives as much as possible (to the gym, out to dinner, bowling, etc) and going to as many activities on campus as possible. We are really excited about some of the guys we have met and are looking forward to meeting some more this weekend and getting them to go Pi Kapp.

IFC Recruitment sign-up is going pretty well and IFC is pushing hard the last few days going to every dorm room to get freshmen to sign up. The number who have signed up will exceed last year's total. It will be a busy weekend for the chapter...wish us good luck!

Scaffold Sit

As classes began this past week, the Pi Kapps put on a scaffold sit on the quad to raise funds and awareness for Pi Kappa Phi's national philanthropy, Push America. Members sat on the scaffold for 48 hours straight and the day after the scaffold sit, there was also a viewing of the movie Murderball in the Marty Theatre.

Current Push Chair Bill Coons created a Push Club last year. The club is a registered campus organization open to anyone on campus interested in getting involved with Push America. Bill reported a lot of interest in the club during the activities fair this past week.

This should be a busy week for the Pi Kapps as Formal Recruitment is less than a week away. I will keep the news coming.
